The First South Side Business to Host a PittMesh Node is...

March 30, 2016

The Beehive! We are pleased to announce the plan to establish a fifty-node network in the South Side, all to be installed along East Carson Street by the end of 2016 - and it all starts with The Beehive Coffeeshop and Dessertery.  If you have never been there, you are missing out!  This colorful shop offers much more than coffee  - we highly suggest you stop in for a sandwich, soup, or even a liquored-up milkshake! Yum.

The South Side presents a unique challenge when installing mesh nodes.  Many buildings hold official Historic Society designations, and that means restrictions on changing any of the buildings both inside and out. We will ensure that all of our nodes are in compliance with the both the South Side Chamber of Commerce as well as the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation.  Consequently, we will not be mounting external antennas but rather use Nanostations attached to windows to bounce signal up and down East Carson Street. The indoor nodes will be dual-band and mesh over WiFi.

So that's one down, 49 to go! Do you own a business or home in the South Side and want to join the PittMesh network! Contact us today and help us flood East Carson with free public WiFi!
